Update #45 – November 2013

Thank you for praying for us at Cor Deo.  In the last couple of weeks we had a very enjoyable Intensive in the Portland area which included a very encouraging mini-reunion of participants from last year’s Intensive.  It was so good to hear of the impact our week together has had on them and their ministry since.  Peter went on to a one-day Cor Deo seminar in central Oregon – another enjoyable time delighting in the glorious gospel.

While David and Peter were over in the USA to join Ron for this Intensive, Mike moved into our new Cor Deo hub house in Chippenham.  We are excited to have Mike here and starting to set up the Cor Deo office.  Mike is continuing to build his personal support base as he begins his full-time role as Team Administrator and Associate Mentor with us.

This next week Peter and David will be joined by Huw Williams (CD’11) to lead an Intensive for preachers.  We will be about a dozen and really value your prayers.

We asked you to pray for the full-time team for 2014.  Thank you.  God has brought together a great group of four men to start in January.  We will tell you more about Paul, Jake, Phil and Brian in due course, but please pray for them as they prepare for this special season of life!  We could still add one or two more, so please continue to pray for the team of God’s choosing to be assembled come January.

Before the full-time course begins again, we have two special events that you are invited to join us for:

Church History Mini-Intensive: Luther and the Bible – 22-23rd November, 2013. We know how Luther struggled in his early monastic days. Staupitz, as a remedy, sent Luther off to study the Bible. Luther’s role in the Reformation grew out of that study. In our two-days together we will look at Luther’s use of the Bible in his Heidelberg Disputation, in his commentary on Galatians, and his use of the book of Romans. It was the fuel for the Reformation. This Mini-Intensive will be led by Ron, Peter and David. There is more information on the Events (http://www.cordeo.org.uk/evening-class/)  page on the website and please contact us if you have any questions or would like to reserve a place.

Intensive – A Relational Faith, 13-17th January 2014. Our standard first Intensive is “A Relational Faith” which combines study of highlights from John with an introduction to the three streams of Christian spirituality and a consideration of the impact of the Trinity on our evangelism, church experience and personal spiritual growth.  We still have some spaces available in January, but it is filling fast.  Please contact us if you’d like to join us.

Thank you for praying for us, for the ministry coming up and for the wider impact of Cor Deo through past Intensive participants and graduates of the full-time programme.  We exist to multiply ministry that shares God’s heart.  We know we are all inadequate, but we are thrilled by the way God is at work despite us!

Enjoying our God’s heart together,

Peter for the team
