OK, I really AM talking to much on this site, but you guys always spur my thoughts! More than 15 years ago now I prayed a prayer much like the one you suggest in your last paragraph: I asked the Lord to show me how I could know Him, know His Word, and love Him in the way Deut. 6:5-9 describes. As I began to read the Bible, He responded in ways I never expected, and it has radically changed my relationship with Him. I boggle at the remembrance of the time when I thought my relationship with Christ had become routine and boring! And the more I read, the more I realize that I've only begun to plumb the depths of who He is!

Hopefully all of us at one time or another has had the experience in our lives of being with someone who absolutely delighted in us...a spouse, a parent, a teacher, a dear friend. We will always look forward to spending time with someone like that. That's the experience I have when I spend time with the Lord in His Word. I experience His delight in me, and I delight in Him in response---like it says in the Song, "I am my Beloved's, and He is mine, and His banner over me is love." Wow! How can THAT be boring?!

David, thanks for the encouragement for us to tell the Lord that our relationship with Him feels stale and flat, and to ask Him to show us more of Himself. As you have said, He will be thrilled to answer!
